I ran a 10K. That’s 6 miles in ‘Merican. I don’t think I wanted to though. I didn’t train like I did for the half marathon earlier this year1. I haven’t been eating right. I wasn’t running consistently.
But I ran a 10K. It wasn’t grueling. It took me 1 hour 7 minutes, and I did it.


This race reminded me that sometimes you just need to do the damn thing. You may not be completely passionate about something you’ve set your mind on. But there is a power in doing it anyway. I dug down and found the motivation to do something even though I wasn’t obsessed with doing it.
And sometimes you need to do that.
Also… shout out to the guy behind me in the race who is completely SOLD on finishing the thing. Good on you, bro.
Now… my mind is set on March and running the half marathon again… and maybe I will catch the passion to do the thing this time. Either way, I proved to myself that I can reach a big goal even when I’m not ‘feeling it.’
